Our story
Why Roots & Wings exists.
A safe, well-run home for women in recovery, and a place where a mother never has to leave her children behind. Roots to steady you, and wings to help you grow.
Why we exist
Recovery asks a lot: get honest, stay accountable, rebuild trust, often while everything else keeps moving. It should happen somewhere safe, a real home where you can rebuild, and where a mother can keep her children right beside her.
Roots and Wings is built on one idea: you need both. Roots, a stable, safe, well-run home where the chaos stops. And wings, the support and room to grow into who you are capable of being, not just to stay sober.
This house is for getting your footing, and then getting your wings. If you are a mother, your children can be right here with you. If you are not, this is just as much your home, built around your real life, not a program you disappear into.

If you are scared, read this
You are not the first woman to feel this way.
If you are afraid, or ashamed, or sure you have already used up every chance, please know this: so many women have felt some version of that first.
Needing support does not mean you have failed. Asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do, not a sign you cannot handle your own life. You will be met with respect here, not judgment, whatever brought you to us, and however many times you have tried before.

What makes us different
You do not have to leave your life behind.
Most homes treat what matters most to you, your kids, your job, your independence, as complications to work around. We built this one around them instead.
If you have children, there is room for them here: real beds, a real yard, a home built for a family, not a facility. If you do not, you get the same thing every woman here gets, space, structure, and a house that treats you like an adult rebuilding a life, not a resident being managed.
What we believe
Four things we hold to, every day.
-
Dignity, always
You are a person in recovery, never a case number. Everyone here is spoken to with respect, on the hardest days most of all.
-
Room for your whole life
If you have children, they stay right beside you. If you do not, you still get a home built around who you are, not a program you vanish into.
-
Real, practical support
Not just a roof. Real accountability, a steady routine you can actually keep, and people who help you stay on track.
-
No judgment, ever
Wherever you are starting from, and however many times you have tried before, you are welcome here exactly as you are.
Is this the right home for you?
Honest about the fit, both ways.
We would rather be straight with you now than have you arrive somewhere that was never going to work. Here is who this home is really for.
This is a good fit if
- You are a woman ready to live substance-free and do the daily work of recovery.
- You want your children with you, or you are working toward reunifying with them.
- You are looking for structure, routine, and a community that has your back.
- You want to be treated with respect while you rebuild, at your own pace.
This may not be the fit if
- You are looking for a detox or a licensed medical or clinical program. We are a sober living home, not a treatment facility.
- You are not yet able to arrive and stay substance-free.
- You are looking for a place with no structure or shared expectations.

From our founder
Why I started Roots & Wings.
I started Roots and Wings because I kept seeing sober living options that missed half the equation, all structure and no warmth, or all warmth and no accountability. Recovery needs both. It needs roots: a real home, well-run, safe, and steady, where you are not fighting your environment on top of everything else. And it needs wings: the support to keep moving, toward independence, toward the life you actually want, not just toward staying clean.
This house is built to give you both. You will have real rules, and people who are genuinely on your side. My job is to keep the house itself from ever being what is in your way.
Lindsey, Founder
